Diary: 2018 year in Review - Reflecting on my past goals from 2018 | 2019 New Years Resolutions - What my new goals are for 2019

I never like to say a year was bad for anyone. Certain things may have happened that were not in your favour but all things bring us to a certain point in our lives. All things happen for a reason. Good or bad. I just hope you always live life to its fullest.

2018

I had previously written a blog post on my 2018 resolutions and I had told you I would reflect on them in the new year. So here it is.

MIND

Meditation | In a way I did come to this goal but not fully. I did join a hot yoga class this year where I committed myself to going at least once a week. I therefore had one night a week where I zoned out and had a few minutes to myself. My main goal with meditation was to be doing more often and not only in a class but at home as well.

Doing more crafts | I had mentioned my wall painting I was working on that of course I did not touch at all this year. I will for sure continue with that this year. I’ve started a few new crafts; one being macramé (which I have yet to complete) and the other is resin crafts. Inspired by a girl at work, I wanted to try it out because the outcome of the final product is just so cute. It’s an addictive craft but also very expensive. I haven’t gone full blown with the resin crafts yet but I will continue to explore it at my own will and expense. I will also finish my macramé wall decal this year so I can finally display it!

Cooking more | I would say I have achieved this goal in way but not to the extent I would have liked. I did cook just nothing really new and adventurous.

Staying organized | I’ve defiantly done a good job of this. I’ve come to the conclusion that I love my own computer calendar for this. My MacBook calendar can sync with my phone so I can always update anywhere I go. Also putting my reminders of paying certain bills has been a life saver.

Saving money | Again I did do this but not to the extent of my liking. I just need to discipline myself more.

Paying off my credit cards | One down, one to go!

Grow my blog | I will admit, I haven’t been on here as much as I’d like to of been. I just nee to push myself. Get hyped up and do what I want to do.

BODY

Yoga | I’m in love with the class I take. I only do it once a week but it’s something and I feel so rejuvenated afterwords.

Soaking my feet | FAIL! I just need to push myself to do it when I come home. In my defence, it was a busy year at work and being at work super late does not help. When I come home, I just want to sleep.

Going for a full body massage | I did go but I need to go more often. Relaxing at home on my days off is great but having that sensation across your body after it being so physically worked is so important.

Changing my eating habits | Did not happen but I will not give it up! I promise.

SOUL

Travel more | I did say my next destination would be a hot one. I went back to the lovely island of Cuba. It was just me and my momma and it was so nice. I had been to this resort before and wanted her to experience it for herself. I was actually really nice that it was just us two. My other trip was to the state of California! A new destination for me and a check off the bucket list. I went with my Brother and his girlfriend (they’ve already been twice before) and they knew their way around. It was a fun experience and I would defiantly go back to explore more of the state.

Enjoy life | I did indeed. Just need to continue doing so.

Letting go | I think I did a pretty good job of this. I’ve alway considered myself to be laid back but I do feel like I could have taken more of an initiative at being a free spirit.

2019

New year, same me! Just trying to be my best self and amplify my good spirits. All of my previous resolutions have basically stayed the same because some of them are goals for a lifetime. I didn’t want to repeat myself a whole lot, and if I have it’s an amplified version of the resolution before. I’ve also added in some new ones that I’m excited to hopefully accomplish this year.

MIND

Meditation | My new goal for this year is to continue to go to my hot yoga class are than once a week and take some time out of my morning to meditate in my room. I am trying to make my room a place of peace and zen to help out with this. I still believe taking those few minutes to yourself is super healthy for the mind.

Cooking more | I have plenty of cook books to explore and many inspirations on social media that I want to try out. I will also go along with the typical goal of eating more mindful and healthy. Cooking for me is very peaceful and fun which is why I chose to put under the mind category.

Listening to more podcasts | I’ve only gotten into podcasts this past year and I really enjoy them. I find that they really past the time quickly, especially when driving. I’m into ones that are just comedic, ones that are informal, and ones that are just uplifting about topics I enjoy. I haven’t explored too much yet about the specific ones I enjoy but hopefully I can share with you throughout the year my favourite podcasts or in my next year end review.

Reading more | Whether it be other blogs or books I just need to read more instead of watching Netflix.

Saving money & spend less | Just gotta keep it up! I really should cut back on unnecessary shopping *sigh*.

BODY

Yoga | Instead of going to my class once a week I of course want to start going more often. I also want be able to start practicing at home in my own space. My brother and his girlfriend are moving out so their room will be mine for the taking lol I plan on converting it into a mindful/zen room.

Looking for my own place | I’ve been having a strong urge to move out recently. I just want a place to call my own. Decorate it that way I want. Have my alone time. Don’t get me wrong I love my family but I just want this change. I’ve been looking a rental spaces but nothing has popped out.

Grow my jewelry collection | I’m obsessed with rings. I wanna keep growing my collection. I’ve gotten a few beautiful pieces as gifts over the past few years and I never take them off. Other are new to the collection but are timeless.

Going for more massages | I periodically do this but not as often as I’d like. I want to try to make it a once a month thing.

SOUL

Grow my crystal collection | My most recent post shows my crystal collection thus far and I can’t wait to grow it. I want all the crystal!

Burn more incense and use my aroma diffuser | I use my aroma diffusers all the time. Every so often I get lazy about putting water in them so I just have to stop being lazy LOL. And burning incense has been I thing of mine this past year. It’s super relaxing. I love the way they smell. Again I just want to keep up with it and burn them more often.

Spending time alone | It’s so peaceful spending time alone. Watching my own shows or movies. Reading a book or just zoning out.

Spending time with friends | As much as I like being alone I of course enjoy the company of my friends and family. Having small get togethers is just as healthy for the mind and soul.

Try something new (or something you’ve always thought of doing) | My idea here is possibly uploading a Youtube video. I’ve been thinking of doing one for a while now but haven’t had the courage or ideas quit yet…well I have ideas I just have to sort them out. So hopefully this will be something I’ll do in the new year!
